EDUCATION

Firewise USA

Carolina Land & Lakes is working with the Firewise USA program through the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to educate communities about the risk of wildfire.

Firewise USA educates homeowners about techniques to help reduce the risk of wildfire damage to communities. The “Good Fire in the Mountains” workshop was held to educate community members about prescribed fire and how to reduce wildfire risk.

Prescribed Fire & Risk Reduction

Carolina Land & Lakes Executive Director, Melissa Patton, serves as the managing partner for the Piedmont Prescribed Burn Association (PBA), a regional collaboration dedicated to increasing the safe and effective use of prescribed fire as a tool for wildfire risk reduction, forest health, and land stewardship.

Through this partnership, we support landowners and communities by advancing training, coordination, and implementation of prescribed burns across the Piedmont region.
